Rock n' Roll Breakfast: A Brief History
Act I: 2004 - 2016
Act II:
2019 - present
Jai Soloy founded the Rock n' Roll Breakfast Show back in the Spring of 2004. Within a month of his tenure as captain, he called upon the Reverend to guest host a show. Two weeks later, Jai extended the invitation making the Reverend his permanent co-pilot. The duo hit it off immediately and sailed the Breakfast Show Brothership to soaring heights sharing a universal passion for good rock n' roll music. The pair saw two prodigious years together with barely a blemish on their record, only being stood up by one guest Robin Black.
September 2006 saw Jai gift the Breakfast Show Brothership to The Reverend as he relocated to Nova Scotia. After Jai's departure the Breakfast Show welcomed Yogi Garcia as a permanent co-host. Yogi's contribution to the show cannot be understated; he took the listenership to a global audience via the online streams and his world travels. With each passing year gaining bigger momentum, the annual station Fundrive had the Breakfast Show become an Top 3 fundraiser, receiving donations from acround the world.
After twelve glorious years of Breakfast Showing, The Reverend relinquished his microphone on September 30, 2016 and signed off of the airwaves for an extended leave of absence. It wasn't certain if it was a permanent thing, but it seemed to be pointing that way as a couple of years passed. Yogi remained at the station as a fill-in host and flew the Breakfast Show flag as often as he could while covering other programs.
July 2018 had Yogi comandeer a float for CFUV's Pride Parade appearance. He spun the tunes, The Rev had the mic, and together they ring-led the CFUV crew for their first parade appearance, and most colouful public spectacle
During the station's Fundrive in March of 2019, The Rev hosted a Rock n' Roll Breakfast Show charity episode resulting in a Top 5 fundraising campaign for the station.
September 2019 featured The Reverend return to weekly broadcasts for the ultimate ressurection of the Rock n' Roll Breakfast Show. The only difference from the past is the show starting at 12 PM PST; an hour earlier than before.
Tune in and turn it up!
